Testing And Tracking
If you are really serious about becoming a successful Internet Marketer then you must be committed to spending time on all of the small details. One of these aspects is constantly testing and tracking all of your campaigns and projects to make them more profitable. In fact John Reese, one of the very top Internet Marketing gurus, says that the biggest benefit of having a lot of traffic is not the actual traffic in itself but that it will let you test, track and then adjust your campaigns at a far quicker rate. There are several excellent ways to do this testing process, however, in the first place it is of paramount importance to impress on you exactly how crucial it is.
Lets say you have set-up a website and are selling your own ebook from it at a price of $29.00. Also through various methods you are attracting one hundred visitors to your site per day. Lets suppose you have a conversion rate of one percent. That means that one average you are making one sale per day and a grand total of $29.00. Now imagine if you were able to tweak around with your sales page and over a period of one month were to increase your conversion rate from one percent to two percent. Suddenly, you are making $58.00 per day without having done anything dramatic. Then if you concentrate on getting more traffic you know that twice as many of them will convert to customers compared to before. If you could double your traffic to two hundred per day then you would be making $116.00 per day. This equates to roughly $40,000 per year. At this stage you may soon be able to leave your job and concentrate solely on your Internet Marketing ventures.
Another terrific way to test and track for increased profits is by testing out different ads on your autoresponder lists before paying for ads elsewhere on the internet. When you have found one that out pulls all the others by far then you can use that one with a lot of confidence that you are going to turn over a serious profit. To be totally honest you want to be tracking just about everything you do on the internet, whether it be forum posting, press releases, blogging, etc. Only by doing this can you ensure that your hard effort is being maximised where it really matters; the sales page! A good tactic to use is a piece of software that will allow you to display two different sales pages. Fifty percent of the time one will show up and the other fifty percent of the time the other one will. You then simply track the results and see which page lead to the highest conversion rate. After finding out you simply repeat the process with the goal of constantly up the rate.
The same theory should also be applied to AdSense sites. You must continually test different placements of the Ads along with different backgrounds and pictures until you can finally come up with what would be seen as your optimum rate.
